More About Me...
Well... what more can I say about myself...
Let's see, my favorite book series would have to be Bazil Broketail
by Christopher Rowley. This series of six books is based around
an orphan boy named Relkin and his dragon Bazil; a very interesting
book for those of you who are into fantasy. Though another good
book is Neuromancer by William Gibson, and for those of you who actually
read it, you will see many undertones in The Matrix , since Gibson
supposedly started this whole genre of cyber-punk. For you Matrix
lover's out there is the music video i made
that alot of people seem to like, check it out. If you don't have
the DivX codec, you can't watch it
until you install it.
Let's see, the most interesting part about me, i
guess, is the fact that i don't fall into any group what so ever.
My father is a Dacist, my mother a Agnostic, my grand-parents mormon.
Me, I'm an atheist. My background, i think only 3 generation i'm
counting back, maybe 4, are: Jamaican,
Indian, Chinese, African, French, Scottish, Irish, British, Swedish.
So what would you label me? The things i associate the most with
are my Jamaican heritage, because my entire father's side is from there,
and my Chinese heritage, just look at my last name for christ's sake.
This homogeniosity spills over into my musical taste. I
listen to anything from classical, to techno, to JPOP. The only
music i don't listen to is country, bluegrass, jazz, gospel, musicals,
and most rap. So either way, most people don't like any of the
music i like. Then again, i'm pretty tolerant as long as you don't
play any of the music i listed above. There are currently only
a few bands that i would actually buy the CD for Linkin Park, Moxy Fruvous,
System of a Down, and Symphony X. Usually i just do the good thing and
just download the mp3s i want and create compilation CDs like every
other Joe. My ecletic tastes also extend themselves into the kind of
movies i like, i will pretty much watch anythign that doesn't suck,
but like every guy out there, i love action and kung fu flicks (which
are quickly becoming one in the same).
Well, i've added numerous pictures to my website.
The pictures here are from my trip to Utah with my uncle and little
brother. I had a great time snowboarding, when i should have been
sitting in on a Data Compression Conference. The pciture of me, towards
the bottom, is from my high school senior pictures i had done. I still
have that shirt, and only i would wear sneakers when i dress up. I hate
dress shoes, they are the most uncomfortable pieces of shit in teh universe,
and i am totally against wearing anything that isn't comfortable.
Well, after having the same website for 8 years, i felt that i should
create a new site using some of those nifty webpage designing software
suites. This current site, is the result of one such program, Dreamweaver.
Well, here you go, I've also decided to add a few more pages that deals
with compression, yes compression.
If you hadn't guessed already, i'm a multimedia freak with tons of knowledge
of data compression and multimedia editing. I was currently working
on a short film, about 30 minutes, with my old roommate Mark Hopkins,
and it was expected to have been done by the end of the spring semester
'01. However, some issues with interlacing from the video camera and
my lack of computing power at the time, p3 450mhz with a hardware mpeg-2
accelerator, to catch mpeg-2 video put off final production of the movie.
All scenes with only Mark and myself have been taped, i just need to
copy them over to the computer again and begin editing once more.
This is about half of the movie, but i don't think it is ever going
to be finished... Mainly because i can't act at all and it really ruins
the movie alot...
One of my projects, i'm kinda like da Vinci in the
sense i don't finish alot of the projects i start, is a Bryce animation
that i'm working on with Dennis. Hopefully it should be done before
the the end of '03, but the actual rendering may be very time consuming
and may have to be done a render farm during the break. I have
supplied fully rendered pictures
and some animations of the general feel of the animation which is going
to be timed to the song "Dueling Banjos". Hope i finish this one,
it should be nice. To see current pics and test animation go to
my bryce page. However, i doubt the finished
product will look anythign like this, Dennis and I have decided that
using Bryce as our primary rendering tool was a bad idea and plan to
switch to using lightwave. So this learning of a new software suite
will push back the video to sometime in the early 22nd centuary. But
in the meantime, you'd be pleased to know that i have started another music video, this time, i'm using Cindi Lauper's "Time
after Time" song to the anime series "Kanon" but it jsut ended up being one of those vids that ended up getting shelved in the end. I should probably put what i had done so far up here.
