Japan Study Abroad - Sapporo

Well - i know this is a little belated but i just recently realized that i never posted pics of my trip to Sapporo for peeps to see. Well for those of you who don't know, i was in Sapporo for a month back in 2003 after i finished my internship at Concentra i took a month off to study japanese in prep for the JLPT lvl 3 exam in december that year (which i passed... barely). It's unfortunate but there is a clear lack of picutres here with me and the peopel i was hanging out with. Need to get better at that.

Diplomas - Me and the other person in my class with our teacher holding our diplomas Snow Leopard - AT the hokkaido zoo they had a snow leopard - they're endangered
Japanese bathroom - place to wash and bath Note the white stool on teh bathtub, you sit on this and wash yourself next to the tub. Then jump into the bath which is shared water with everyone else in the family, but isn't gross cause you aren't suppose to get into it till after you have washed I had two host families in Sapporo, this is the house of the 2nd family i stayed with. The father is an architect who specializes in making houses look like houses from NE and designed this house.
Check out this "van's" uber 8" rims Flower from the sapporo arboretium

The first host family i stayed with knew a young family which took me into the mountains to the hot springs... this photo is from in front of the resort we stayed at.

The Kanda gang 2 years later... still together and going strong
The Araya family took me to a historic park where they have relocated alot of the orignial buildings from teh first settlement which was kidna odd cause the buildings are only 80 years old. Me and my host father Takahide Araya on a bridge in the historic park
Hehe - this picture is Mina my japanese tutor from brandeis standing in front of... geuss where ICHIRAN! in Ueno. Right after i took this picture, i called up chris with the last 5 min on my prepaid phone to tell him that me and mina were about to sit down and eat ichiran ramen... So everyone in japan has a bike - they are $200 and this is what they look like . I saw a picture at teh histori park of some guys on bike and i shit you not... it was the SAME biek they we riding 80 years ago...

One of my father's friends has this amazing bathroom, so much so i had to take a picture... here's the tub and here's where you sit to wash yourself... notice the large window! in the middle of tokyo, except that the wall there goes up 2 stories so no way anyone could look down but light comes in from teh sun.

My final day in sapporo - my host family took me do karaoke (even though i stink) but love going out! Best song to do while in japan... "Mr. Roboto"!
